Google has recently made it possible for Quick Share to work with AirDrop , and thus made it easy to share files with Apple devices. Many people rejoiced and hoped Apple wouldn’t kill the ability. Still, it seems like a bug is preventing some Google Pixel 10 users from using the feature.

The Pixel 10 users are facing a nasty Wi-Fi bug following Quick Share–AirDrop Integration

What’s going on, exactly? Well, there’s a nasty bug that appeared after the Quick Share update on Pixel 10 devices. It seems like Wi-Fi is getting disconnected. Upon opening the Quick Share menu, users say that the list of available Wi-Fi networks stays empty. Switching Wi-Fi off and on doesn’t resolve the issue.

When you close the Quick Share menu, however, or switch to another app, the Wi-Fi reconnects. So, it’s quite obvious where the problem lies.

This problem was mentioned in the Google Issue Tracker , and someone from the company suggested reporting the bug in the support forums. So, Google is almost certainly aware of the problem and is hopefully working on a fix.

This feature was pushed out about a week ago

As a reminder, this feature was pushed out last week to the Google Pixel 10 series. The Google Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold have access to it. Google did promise that wider support is coming, though, so other Pixels will get it at some point.

Apple did not react to this update. Knowing Apple, it will likely block this feature moving forward, with an update of some sort. Apple wants to keep AirDrop exclusive to its devices. It’s always quoting security issues, but… we’ll leave it up to you if you believe that or not.

Google said that it was extra careful to keep security in place when making this possible. On the other hand, Apple had plenty of chances to open up its ecosystem, but it didn’t, well… at least not until it was forced to.

In any case, we’re expecting Google to fix this problem soon, though Apple could soon block it altogether. It remains to be seen.
