A new leak is showcasing the design of the upcoming WF-1000XM6 earbuds that Sony will be launching later this year, and the design has surprisingly changed enough to differentiate them from Sony’s last pair. The WF-1000X series is Sony’s flagship true wireless earbud , offering Sony’s best-in-class active noise cancellation and top-tier sound quality. Much like the company’s WH-1000X headphones, these earbuds promise to be Sony’s best of the best, and will likely have a price tag to match.
Interestingly, the leak also includes a price, though there have already been rumors regarding what Sony might charge, so this information isn’t entirely new. According to the leak, the earbuds will cost THB 11,990, which is around $379 based on exchange rates. However, the earbuds are expected to cost around $329 USD.
Sony WF-1000XM6 design leak confirms Sony has gone back to a matte finish
If there’s one thing consumers will probably agree on when it comes to Sony’s WF-1000XM5 earbuds, it’s that Sony used a glossy finish on them. With how often you touch your earbuds, a glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet. Consumers didn’t care for this design. Luckily, it looks like Sony has gone back toa matte finish like previous pairs. So fingerprints and smudges will be much harder to spot.
A past rumor revealed that Sony plans to launch these earbuds in three colors, the most recent one being Sandpink . Sony will also seemingly launch these in Black and Platinum Silver, both of which are colors available on the WH-1000XM6 headphones. In addition to the design, the leak mentions active noise cancellation and an IPX4 rating. No other specs were mentioned. It’s also worth noting that the original leak comes from retail listings of the earbuds posted on a retailer website called Power Buy, but those have since been pulled. Notebookcheck and The Walkman Blog have both reported on the leak, however, before that happened.
Sony also recently launched the new LinkBuds Clip , a slightly less expensive pair of earbuds at $229 bpasting a more open style of sound.
