Most consumers are familiar with mainstream audio brands like JBL, Sony, Bose, and so on. However, audiophiles know that there are better options out there. Onkyo is one of them, and the company is celebrating 80 years in the business. At CES 2026 , the company unveiled the Onkyo Muse Series.
These represent a new line of network integrated amplifiers that leverages the company’s decades of Japanese audio engineering with modern streaming features. This has resulted in two new amplifiers: the Y-50 and Y-40. Both amps are designed to be compact, powerful, and your central hub for streaming music . All without sacrificing the high-fidelity sound that audio enthusiasts expect.
Both models pack full digital circuits and Axign Class D amplifiers with high-current MOSFET transistors. But what does that mean? This means that you can expect a clean, powerful sound that punches way above its weight class. The Y-50 is capable of pushing 250 watts per channel into 4 ohms, while the Y-40 delivers 150 watts per channel. Plus, at just 3.9 × 13.8 × 12.6 inches, they should fit comfortably on most shelves without dominating your space.
A Built-in Display That’s Actually Useful

Both amplifiers feature a 5.46-inch color LCD display that shows song metadata, track information, and even an analog-style VU meter. This means Onkyo isn’t adding a display just for the sake of it. It actually makes browsing through streaming services actually useful instead hunting through menus. You can see what’s playing, check your levels, and navigate your music library without pulling out your phone.
The design touches are thoughtful and subtle. Onkyo added a newly designed volume knob and heat vents decorated with a traditional Japanese “San Kuzushi” pattern, a nod to the company’s heritage. The Y-50 comes with a sleek aluminum front panel and includes Onkyo Room EQ for built-in room calibration, so you get optimized sound without the need for separate calibration equipment.
Multiple Connectivity Options
Both the Onkyo Muse Series Y-50 and Y-40 cover multiple connection options. You get three pairs of analog RCA inputs, coaxial input, phono stage, and HDMI ARC for connecting your TV or gaming console. There’s also Ethernet and WiFi for streaming, plus a subwoofer output if you want to add more bass. The amplifiers support Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Chromecast, and AirPlay 2, so you’re covered no matter which streaming service you prefer.
The Onkyo Controller app gives you full control from your phone, letting you customize settings and manage playback remotely. You can also connect via Bluetooth, plug in a turntable, hook up a CD player, or use AUX inputs. Basically, if you have an audio source, these amplifiers can handle it . The Y-50 is priced at $1,499, while the Y-40 comes in at $999. Both will be available in May 2026 in black and silver finishes.
