The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 series devices are now getting the January 2026 Android security update . The rollout for all six smartphones is starting in Korea , but it will quickly spread to other markets.

Just to be clear, the Galaxy S22 , Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S23 , Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are getting the update. We’re talking about the main devices from both lineups here.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 series devices are getting the January 2026 update

Having said that, the update for all of these devices weighs almost 400MB. It’s slightly bigger for the Galaxy S22 series, for some reason, but it’s still under that 400MB level. The update is rolling out in stages, so even when it comes to your region, you may have to be patient.

With that being said, this update delivers only security updates, it seems. There are 55 security fixes included in the update. Out of those 55 fixes, 23 come from Google, though two of them don’t apply to Samsung devices.

4 fixes come from Samsung Semiconductor, while 30 come from Samsung Mobile. Samsung has marked one of those fixes as critical, 28 have been marked as high-risk, while 3 are moderate-risk, according to the company.

Your phone will let you know when the update is ready. You can, however, check manually as well, and hopefully speed up the process slightly. You can do that via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.

This update rolled out to a bunch of Samsung devices up until now

This update has rolled out to a bunch of Samsung phones up until now. Basically, all flagship devices from this and last year have received it, along with some other devices, such as the Galaxy A series mid-rangers.

Samsung rolled out this patch rather fast, as it’s known for doing for the last couple of years. Don’t worry, if you own one of the Galaxy S22 or S23 devices, the update will land soon.
