The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are now getting the January 2026 Android security patch . This update has started to roll out in Korea, but it will soon spread to other markets as well.

It usually takes Samsung mere days to push such updates to more markets. Once it arrives in your region, it will roll out in stages, though, so keep that in mind. You may not get it straight away.

The January 2026 Android security update is rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6

The update weighs around 390MB in this case , and it’s all about security. The update brings 55 security fixes to the table. 23 of those fixes come from Google, even though two of them don’t apply to Samsung devices.

4 of these updates are provided by Samsung Semiconductor, while 30 of them come from Samsung Mobile. Samsung has marked one update as ‘critical’, 28 as ‘high-risk’, and 3 of them as ‘moderate-risk’.

This update is based on Android 16 with One UI 8.0. Both of these smartphones will be getting the One UI 8.5 update at some point in the near future, though. They’ll be amongst the first to get that update.

A handful of other Galaxy phones have already received this update

As a reminder, the January 2026 Android security patch started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 , Galaxy S25 series , Galaxy S24 series, and several Galaxy A phones prior to arriving to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

There are no new features included in this update, in case you were wondering. Well, at least Samsung didn’t mention any. This update is all about security, and that’s a common occurrence when it comes to monthly patch updates.

You can expect new features to drop once the One UI 8.5 update comes knockin’, that’s for sure. That’ll be a halfway update towards Android 17, but still based on Android 16, of course.
