There has reportedly been a delay in the launch target of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Super GPUs, which is going to leave gamers with fewer options come time for what might have been the official launch window. While there’s no official launch window that’s been confirmed yet, NVIDIA has been releasing its latest GPUs around the same time for the past few generations. So it was expected that the RTX 50 Super GPUs would be dropping as a mid-generation refresh halfway through the lifecycle of the RTX 50 series cards. But that doesn’t seem to be happening.

A new report suggests that NVIDIA has delayed the launch target . The rumor comes from a post on the Board Channels forum. The post claims that NVIDIA has informed its board partners that the refresh was delayed. NVIDIA’s board partners are brands like GIGABYTE, ASRock, Zotac, ASUS, and several other brands that make GPUs.

NVIDIA RTX 50 Super delay is a result of supply chain issues and rising component costs

Right now, there’s no confirmation as to why there has been a delay with NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series refresh. Nor is there a confirmation that a delay has even happened. However, the discussion surrounding the reasons for the delay in the post at Board Channels all lines up with what’s currently happening.

According to the post, NVIDIA has delayed the launch due to several factors . These include supply chain issues, the rising cost of components (RAM has gone up by exorbitant amounts since the shortage started ), and, of course, high demand for the GPUs as AI data centers gobble up as much stock as they can.

All of these factors have contributed to shortages in the GPU supply, in addition to causing an increase in cost for some models. If a delay is actually happening, then gamers and PC enthusiasts should expect costs to rise further for currently available stock. A delay in the RTX 50 Super cards could mean less available stock for the current models. NVIDIA was also already reported to be cutting back on the production of certain models in the RTX 50 series.
