Samsung , with every major One UI update, is pushing new and improved AI features. One of which includes generative AI image editing. With One UI 8.5 , the company is reportedly working on a new Galaxy AI Photo Assist feature. This will apparently let you mix and match different images and simplify editing images using text prompts.

Galaxy AI on One UI 8.5 may let you mix and match different photos

Folks at SamMobile have discovered this feature in the One UI 8.5’s leaked build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 . After you tap the Galaxy AI button in the phone’s built-in Gallery app, you can add, change, or remove things in that image using the text field in the Photo Assist section.

The report says that users can describe how they want to change that image directly from the Gallery app . Currently, image editing via text prompts is only available through the Drawing Assist section on the latest premium models.

This Photo Assist feature doesn’t work yet

Furthermore, you can also add things from other images and outline how you want to combine both. For instance, if you’re editing an image of your cat, you can add an image of a ball or yarn from your phone’s Gallery app and ask Galaxy AI to blend them. Galaxy AI will generate the combined image using generative AI technology.

However, the feature doesn’t work yet, although it has been explained in the Tips app of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s One UI 8.5 build. It is also not available on the Galaxy S25 series running the first beta version of One UI 8.5 . Samsung may bring it with future beta releases or launch it with the Galaxy S26 series next year.
