OnePlus has just confirmed some OnePlus 15 details, with a surprising gaming twist. OnePlus released teasers that confirm the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC will fuel the phone, while a 165Hz display will be included too.
The OnePlus 15 will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, and a 165Hz display
That’s something we pretty much knew already. The OnePlus 15 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 popped up on Geekbench , not to mention that OnePlus uses Qualcomm’s best chip for its flagship smartphone every year.
Furthermore, there were several indications that a 165Hz display will be used. Rumors were saying so, while the company’s exec hinted it, too. In fact, we know that the OnePlus 15 will utilize BOE’s next-gen ‘Oriental Screen’.
Confirmations are always nice to have, though. OnePlus even used the phone’s name this time around, while the company teased ‘Ultra Performance’ thanks to the new chip and a 165Hz display.
A gaming kernel has also been confirmed
That’s not all, though. There is also a gaming twist here, as mentioned earlier. The phone will ship with a Fengchi gaming kernel, which puts even more focus on the gaming aspect here. While OnePlus’ flagships were always great for gaming, they were never gaming smartphones per se.
The OnePlus 15 will be one of the first smartphones to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. We’re not sure when will the phone launch, but it’s coming in the near future. It’s expected to arrive in October, though the exact launch date is still unknown.
As a reminder, that will be its launch in China, not its global launch. The global launch event is expected to follow in the first quarter of next year. That’s what the company did last year, and that’s almost certainly what’s coming this year.
Speaking of which, the phone’s design was seemingly revealed quite recently . It will be notably different than what the OnePlus 13 offered.
