The OnePlus 15R could end up bringing more OnePlus 15 features than expected. The President of OnePlus China, Li Jie Louis, went to Weibo to reveal some details about the company’s upcoming phone .
The OnePlus 15R will get more OnePlus 15 features than expected
Granted, he was talking about the OnePlus Ace 6T. That phone is expected to become the OnePlus 15R in markets outside of China, though. OnePlus will likely just rebrand it for other markets, as it did in the past.
We already knew that the phone would bring some great features, but some of them we did not expect. Mr. Li Jie Louis noted that the phone will offer IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings. Those are the same ratings the OnePlus 15 has.
The OnePlus 13R, the OnePlus 15R’s predecessor, shipped with an IP65 rating only. The OnePlus 15R will offer much better ingress resistance if OnePlus re-releases the OnePlus Ace 6T as the OnePlus 15R.
It will have a powerful chip, a 165Hz display, 100W charging, and more
OnePlus also confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 series chip will be used. That will almost certainly be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 , Qualcomm’s upcoming processor, which is expected to be immensely powerful. Furthermore, a display with a 165Hz refresh rate will also be included on the phone, and that’s not something you’d expect. You’ll use that refresh rate only when gaming, but still.
What else? Well, he confirmed that 100W SuperVOOC charging will be a part of the offering. Wireless charging probably will not, but still, you’re getting blazing-fast charging here. The phone will also include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
All of this may seem too good to be true, but.. It could be. The OnePlus 13R is still one of the best phones to get in its price range, and if OnePlus ends up hitting a similar price tag with the OnePlus 15R… well, it’ll go a long way towards that phone’s success.
