OnePlus has just confirmed a new series of smartphones , the so-called ‘Turbo’ series , which was rumored recently. The rumors regarding this series started popping up in October, and now it’s official.
OnePlus Turbo has been confirmed, and gaming will be its main focus
Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, has confirmed via Weibo that the Turbo range is coming. It’s coming to commemorate 12 years of OnePlus’ existence. These Turbo devices will “inherit the powerful performance genes” of OnePlus flagships and offer “an unprecedented gaming experience.”
He also added that they will offer the strongest battery life in their class. That clearly points to a large silicon-carbon battery, as was rumored back in October. That rumor mentioned an 8,000mAh unit.
It could end up having a larger battery than even the OnePlus 15
So, it could end up having an even larger battery pack than the company’s flagship, the OnePlus 15 . As a reminder, that phone comes with a 7,300mAh unit.
Li Jie also revealed that in China, OnePlus will end this year with the biggest sales growth of any smartphone brand. The company will mark a 40% growth over 2024, which is huge for OnePlus.
Next year, with the Turbo line, OnePlus aims to improve gaming “to bring the ultimate experience to more people.”
What else leaked regarding the OnePlus Turbo handset? Well, a 6.7-inch OLED display was mentioned, along with the aforementioned 8,000mAh battery. That display will have a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, it seems.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip is expected to fuel it
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip is expected to fuel this smartphone. OnePlus is also expected to offer 100W wired charging with this phone, and a 50-megapixel main camera. An 8-megapixel ultrawide camera was also mentioned, but none of those specs are official just yet. They sure sound interesting, though. The phone’s price will play a huge role in its appeal, of course.
