The OnePlus 15 pushes the boundaries by offering a 165Hz panel, up from the 120Hz panel of its predecessor. Now, a new leak suggests that the company is testing something even faster. As per the information, the upcoming OnePlus smartphone might feature a 240Hz panel manufactured by BOE.
Future OnePlus flagship might carry a 240Hz BOE display
As per a post made on X (formerly Twitter), OnePlus is reportedly testing a whopping 240Hz panel manufactured by the Chinese giant BOE. This goes well beyond the current 165Hz panel found on the OnePlus 15. Such high refresh rates are mainly aimed at gaming and faster animations. The higher refresh rate also enables smoother display motions.
The source has not shared any information other than the display refresh rate and its manufacturer. The leak also does not confirm the device on which the high refresh rate panel is being tested. Some speculations do claim that the company’s next flagship, the OnePlus 16 , will feature a high refresh rate panel . However, there’s no clear confirmation yet. Companies often test ambitious hardware long before launch, and many features change or get dropped later. And therefore, this leak shouldn’t be taken as a confirmation that the future OnePlus flagship will surely offer a 240Hz panel.
OnePlus 16 might be the device to offer a 240Hz panel
Several factors will decide if the brand proceeds to adopt the 240Hz BOE panel for its next smartphone. Power use, heat, and battery life are all factors that could limit how practical a 240Hz display would be. Moreover, the display testing only one part of the story. Rumors suggest that OnePlus is also experimenting with a very large battery, possibly close to 9,000mAh . This battery is said to use Glacier Battery technology developed with CATL.
The company is also testing an upgraded camera hardware for its next flagship. Early leaks mention that the hardware will carry a larger 200MP periscope telephoto lens. Once again, there’s no clear information that discloses the name of the device going to feature such high-end specifications. Most likely, it’s going to be the 2026 flagship of the tech giant, the OnePlus 16.
