OpenAI has just launched a new feature for its AI chatbot , ChatGPT Health. It lets users connect their medical records and wellness tools directly to the chatbot. The firm says that it aims to make health-related conversations more personal while also keeping the data secure and independent from other conversations.
ChatGPT gets a new Health feature to assist users with their health and wellness
While announcing ChatGPT Health , OpenAI says that the new feature is designed to handle everyday questions. It doesn’t replace any doctors or healthcare professionals. Once updated, the users will be able to see a dedicated space within the platform where connected health-related files, conversations, and apps remain isolated from other chats.
OpenAI has also assured that none of the data from the Health tab will be used for any training or related purposes. The goal is to build a personalized insight using the user’s own data and relevant medical records. The tech giant also said the feature was built in close collaboration with physicians. It reflects the growing demand for reliable digital medical guidance.
The goal is to make ChatGPT a personal digital assistant
The CEO of Applications at OpenAI, Fidji Simo, says, “ ChatGPT Health serves as part of a broader effort to turn ChatGPT into a personal assistant for daily life. ” The firm further claims that millions of people already ask health-related questions each week. This also prompted the company to create a dedicated space for managing sensitive conversations related to health and wellness.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, emphasized that Health as a category is noticing strong interest. He also says that the new feature reflects the company’s consumer-first policy. It will complement and guide users to improve their overall wellness.
As for right now, ChatGPT Health will roll out to a small group of users. They will test the tool and provide feedback. The feature will be later pushed to a broader audience once the company feels confident in its reliability.
