The OPPO Find N5 is the latest foldable smartphone from OPPO . At the same time, it’s also the thinnest foldable smartphone in the market. This is a book-style foldable, in case you were not aware, and it really does feel like a regular phone in the hand. This phone is succeeding the OPPO Find N3 , which was announced back in 2023. It offers a number of changes and improvements over that device.

The OPPO Find N3 also launched as the OnePlus Open in a number of markets. The same thing will not happen with the OPPO Find N5, however. The OnePlus Open 2 is not happening this year, OnePlus confirmed that much. Luckily, the OPPO Find N5 does come in a global variant, which we’ve been using for a while now. Our OPPO Find N5 review is already up if you’re interested. With that being said, let’s get down to business. You’ll find plenty of information about the OPPO Find N5 below.

OPPO Find N5 specs

The OPPO Find N5 does deliver quite a few improvements compared to its predecessor. One of its main selling points is its thinness, which is something we’ll talk about first. This phone is only 8.93mm thick when folded, and 4.21mm thick when unfolded. For a foldable, that’s very, very thin. When open, it measures 160.87 x 145.58 x 4.21mm. When closed, it measures 160.87 x 74.42 x 8.93mm. The device weighs 229 grams, so that’s another improvement here. It comes in Cosmic Black and Misty White colors, both have “aerospace-grade fiber” on the back, aka glass.

7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC & 50W wireless charging are on board

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip fuels this phone, well, its 7-core version, that is. OPPO also included 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM on the inside, along with 512GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. We’re talking about a global version here, of course. The storage is not expandable. Android 15 comes pre-installed, along with OPPO’s ColorOS 15.0.1. A side-facing fingerprint scanner sits on the right-hand side, it’s embedded in the power/lock key. Facial scanning is also supported here, via the selfie cameras on both displays. Stereo speakers are also included, and the same goes for four microphones. There is a 5,600mAh silicon-carbon battery included on the inside. The OPPO Find N5 supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Two very nice displays are in use here

There is an 8.12-inch OLED LTPO display on the inside. This is the phone’s main display, and it has a resolution of 2248 x 2480. It offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and a peak brightness of 2,100 nits. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are both supported. The cover display, on the flip side, measures 6.62 inches, and it’s also an OLED LTPO panel. An adaptive refresh rate is supported (1-120Hz), and this display has a resolution of 2626 x 1140 pixels. The peak brightness is 2,450 nits, while HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are supported. Nanocrystal glass protects the cover display.

OPPO opted to include a telemacro camera this time around

Three cameras sit on the back of the phone. A 50-megapixel main unit (Sony’s LYT-700 sensor, 1/1.56-inch sensor size, OIS, f/1.89 aperture 21mm lens) is backed by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.75-inch sensor size, OIS, f/2.7 aperture 70mm lens, macro). The third camera on the back is an 8-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture 15mm lens, 116-degree FoV). Hasselblad is a part of the picture too. Two 8-megapixel cameras (f/2.4 aperture 21mm lens) sit on the displays, one on each.

How much does the OPPO Find N5 costs?

There is no universal price tag for the device, as it will differ from one market to the other. OPPO still did not reveal what the price tags will be in which markets, the company simply said that “pricing and availability dependent upon region”. What we do know is that the global variant of the phone comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and that seems to be universal for the global model in all markets. The one price tag that we have, that the company revealed during the event, is the one for Singapore. It will cost S$2,499, which translates directly to $1,860. The price tag could be notably different in other markets, though, so keep that in mind.

Where can I buy the OPPO Find N5?

OPPO did not list all the markets where the OPPO Find N5 will be available. The company said that the “OPPO Find N5 marks a new phase in OPPO’s global expansion”, though. That kind of points in the direction of a wider availability than it was the case with the Find N3, which was not exactly prominently available. What we do know is that the device will not be available in the US. We do know it’s coming to Europe, though, but we’re still not sure in what markets. OPPO’s phones are available across 70 markets around the world, though, so… we’ll see.

What carriers does it work on?

The global variant of the phone will have wide availability in terms of carriers. That’s the case for pretty much every global smartphone from China. Chances are you’ll be able to use it in Europe without a problem, 5G and all. That actually goes for the vast majority of markets, especially if the device is available there. Things could be a bit different in the US, as you may not get full access to 5G on some carriers. You’ll need to contact your carrier and check if you’re planning to import the device. If you live in Europe, chances are you’ll be good to go regardless of what variant you get and where. Just note that the Chinese variants come with different software, so aim to get a global model.

What colors does the OPPO Find N5 comes in?

The OPPO Find N5 comes in two colors globally, while it has three colors overall. The global variant of the phone is available in Cosmic Black and Misty White color options. Both of them have “aerospace-grade fiber” on the back, in other words, glass. The finish is a bit different between them, the matte finish is applied on the back of the black model. The third color is purple, that one is available only in China, and includes vegan leather on the back, instead of glass. It’s less slippery, that’s for sure.

What new upgrades does the OPPO Find N5 has over the OPPO Find N3?

The OPPO Find N5 comes with quite a few upgrades over its predecessor, the OPPO Find N3, and also the OnePlus Open at the same time, as those are more or less the same devices. One could argue that there are also a couple of downgrades here in the camera department, but we’ll talk more about that below. The upgrades do carry A LOT more weight here, as this phone is a major upgrade overall. So, let’s get to it.

Thinner & lighter, the thinnest around

The OPPO Find N5 is the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world. It measures only 8.93mm when it’s folded. It’s 4.21mm thick when unfolded. This makes it thinner than the HONOR Magic V3. On top of the fact it’s so incredibly thin, it’s also lighter than its predecessor, the OPPO Find N3. That phone was sat between 239 and 245 grams in terms of weight, depending on the model. The OPPO Find N5 weighs only 229 grams, while it offers a larger battery and larger displays than its predecessor.

One of the most powerful processors around

OPPO opted to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip here, but its 7-core version. That the new version of the Qualcomm’s standard Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is the most powerful chip Qualcomm offers. The difference between them is not that big, only a 1-core difference, and it’s not even one of the more powerful cores, so… there you go. We can confirm that the phone offers outstanding performance.

Major battery boost, silicon-carbon power

There is a 5,600mAh battery included on the inside of this smartphone. That’s quite large considering how thin this phone is, and considering that the OPPO Find N3 offered a 4,805mAh battery. OPPO opted for a silicon-carbon battery this time around, so that it can fit such considerable capacity inside such a compact body. The battery life is also an area of major improvement here, both on paper and in practice.

Telemacro + zero shutter lag

The OPPO Find N5 now has a telemacro camera, which was not the case last time. You can now use the periscope telephoto camera to take macro photos too. On top of that, the phone comes with the ‘Lightning Snap’ feature, which is basically OPPO’s branding for zero shutter lag. It picked up this feature from the OPPO Find X8 Pro. This does not apply for all lighting conditions, of course, but during the day, taking shots of your restless pets should be fairly easy. The phone does have a slightly smaller main camera sensor, a smaller periscope telephoto sensor, and an inferior ultrawide camera compared to the previous model, though.

Smaller camera bump

Many people seem to be annoyed by larger camera bumps for some reason. We loved the one on the back of the OPPO Find N3 as it looked great, and it was a great place to anchor your index finger to balance the phone. The camera bump on the back of the OPPO Find N5 is consideably less pronounced, though, and many of you will love that, despite some camera hardware concessions.

Faster wired charging

This smartphone also comes with faster wired charging than its predecessor. It offers 80W wired charging compared to 67W wired charging of the predecessor. The charger is still included in the retail box, so that’s a huge plus. Well, that at least goes for the global variants of the phone, that much we know.

From 0W to 50W wireless charging

The OPPO Find N5 also comes with 50W wireless charging. OPPO decided a brand new, thinner charging coil for this phone, to make this happen. The fact that it’s so thin and supports wireless charging is truly unique. Well, especially considering that its predecessor did not support wireless charging at all.

What cases are available for the OPPO Find N5?

OPPO does have some official cases to offer for the Find N5. The first case is the vegan leather one, which comes inside the retail box. That’s very nice of OPPO to include such a nice case with the phone, in all honesty. It’s very thin, and it adds much-needed grip to the phone. Vegan leather is both on the back and over the hinge, as there’s a flap for the hinge to protect it. The front side of the phone (when folded), is not protected by this case, though.

The other case that we’ve spotted at the phone’s launch event in Singapore is the carbon fiber one. That one has the same flap and same design philosophy, but a different material is used. Also, this one comes with magnets on the inside, for the company’s magnetic accessories. The one that is included in the retail box does not. You can check out both cases below.

Should I buy the OPPO Find N5?

Should you buy the OPPO Find N5? Well, it’s hard to argue that this phone comes with a ton of improvements compared to its predecessor. In all honesty, if you have the cash, and are willing to spend it on a foldable, this phone should definitely be something you consider. If you’ve been waiting for a foldable phone that feels just like a regular slab phone when folded, this is the phone to get. It’s also as light as regular slab flagships, and it delivers truly fast wired and wireless charging, compelling cameras, and much, much more. We’d argue it’s worth getting even if you have its predecessor, in all honesty. The OPPO Find N5 is a completely different type of beast.
