Pebble, the recently revived company that was initially popular among smartwatch enthusiasts several years ago, has announced a new wearables product on the way following its recent teaser , which is a smart ring that it’s calling the Pebble Index 01. Unlike other smart rings, such as the Galaxy Ring or one of our personal favorites, the RingConn Gen 2 Air , the Pebble Index 01 isn’t a fitness tracker dedicated to giving you readings of your health metrics. It’s not for tracking sleep or checking your heart rate.
Instead, much like its namesake implies, the Index ring is about digitally jotting down your important thoughts. Sort of like a sticky note for your finger. You know, because sticky notes are the single-most useful thing for writing down little notes of things you want to remember. They have just enough room for a quick note, and you can stick them basically anywhere. The Index is obviously a bit different.

The Pebble Index 01 smart ring records your thoughts and sends them to your phone
There’s a relatively easy way to use your phone for jotting down a quick note. It’s called Google Keep. It syncs to the cloud, so you can even pick it up on your PC at home, or if you type things down at home, you can see those notes in the app when you’re out and about. Here’s the thing. You might not always have the opportunity to pick up your phone or open a browser tab and type out that note. That’s where the Pebble Index 01 comes in.
You can use the ring to record your notes, and it’ll store them locally on the ring. You can then send those recordings to the Pebble companion app that’s installed on your phone, so you can access those notes anytime.
According to Pebble, there’s no subscription required to use the ring or store recordings. However, there is a subscription that’s available. What it offers the user is the capability to store recordings in the cloud. So, there is a benefit to having it.
The battery lasts for years, and there’s no need to recharge
Pebble says the ring also lasts for years, and that there’s no need to recharge it. You just use it up until the battery dies, then Pebble encourages users to send it back for recycling . Exactly how long the battery lasts will depend on how often you use it. Pebble says that it lasts for 12 to 15 hours of recording. On average, they used it 10 to 20 times per day to record 3-6 second thoughts. Which is about 2 years of use. If you’re using it a lot less often than that, then it will probably last a lot longer.
Pebble emphasizes that the ring only records once you hit the button. Otherwise, it’s doing nothing but resting around your finger, waiting to be used. The ring also comes in several size options, which include US sizes 6 through 13 as well as three colors: Matte Black, Polished Silver, and Polished Gold. The Pebble Index 01 is up for pre-order now for $75, but it’ll go up to $99 at the retail price later on. It launches in March 2026.
