The iPhone 17 ended up being immensely popular for Apple since it launched, and that’s not a surprise. It’s a major step up from the iPhone 16, while the company managed to keep the same price tag. In this article, we’ll compare it to the very best compact phone Google has to offer. In other words, this is an Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro comparison. Both of these are compact devices, in fact, so it should be interesting.
We’ll first list the specs of both smartphones, and will then move to compare them across a number of other categories. We will be comparing their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. There’s a lot to talk about here, as these are considerably different devices, so… let’s get to it.

Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro: Design
There are some similarities when it comes to their designs, but they do look notably different. The Apple iPhone 17 has a pill-shaped camera cutout on the front, which is centered up top. The Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, has a much smaller circular camera hole in the same spot. Both phones have uniform bezels all around, and they’re thin on both phones. They are, however, thinner on the iPhone 17.
If we flip them around, you’ll see even more differences. The iPhone 17 does include two cameras on the back, which are vertically aligned in the top-left corner. The Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, includes a camera bar on the back, with three cameras on the inside. That camera bar is horizontal at the top of the phone’s backplate. Both backplates are flat, as are the displays on the two phones. Those backplates are made out of glass.
Both smartphones include frames made out of aluminum. Those frames are flat all around, though they do curve slightly towards the edges for comfort’s sake. The iPhone 17 includes the power/lock button on the right, along with a Camera Control key. On the left, you’ll find the volume rocker buttons and the Action Key. The Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, has all of its physical buttons on the right. That includes the power/lock and volume rocker buttons.
These smartphones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while they’re quite slippery in the hand. The combination of aluminum and glass does that. However, they are very comfortable to use. The Pixel 10 Pro is notably heavier (30 grams heavier).
Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro: Display
The Apple iPhone 17 includes a 6.3-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display. That panel is flat, and it supports a 120Hz refresh rate. HDR10 is supported here, as is Dolby Vision. The peak brightness this panel can provide is 3,000 nits. The resolution on offer is 2622 x 1206 pixels, while the display aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 90%. Apple includes Ceramic Shield 2 on top of the display, to protect it.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display. That panel is also flat, and it has a 120Hz refresh rate. HDR10+ content is supported, while the peak brightness is 3,300 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The resolution this display offers is 2856 x 1280, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning.
Both of these displays are great, actually. They’re both vivid, bright, and have great viewing angles. They’re both also plenty sharp. There’s really not much to differentiate them. They’re not the brightest or the best on the market, but they’re up there, and chances are that not many people will have much to complain about. The iPhone 17’s panel does have the advantage of having an anti-reflective coating, which does make a small difference, if that’s what matters to you.
Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro: Performance
Apple’s A19 processor, a 3nm chip, fuels the iPhone 17. That chip is boosted by 8GB of RAM and NVMe flash storage. The Google Pixel 10 Pro, on the flip side, is fueled by the Google Tensor G5 processor. That is Google’s latest chip, and it’s a 3nm processor as well. It is backed by 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either UFS 3.1 or UFS 4.0 flash storage (only a 128GB storage model comes with UFS 3.1). Neither phone offers storage expansion, by the way.
The performance on both phones is… great. No, neither phone is the snappiest on the market, but once again, they’re up there. You won’t have much to complain about in day-to-day use. Both of them can keep going, even if you put them through a lot in your daily usage. They’re very snappy and responsive, so no worries there, In fact, chances are they’ll stay very responsive for quite some time.
What about gaming? Well, the iPhone 17’s chip is considerably more powerful in direct comparison, and technically. It’s the better phone for gaming. However, you can play basically whatever you want on either phone. With truly demanding games, the iPhone 17 does a better job, that’s for sure. Both phones do get quite warm when gaming, but we haven’t encountered overheating on either of them.
Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro: Battery
There is a 3,692mAh battery included inside the iPhone 17. The Google Pixel 10 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 4,870mAh battery. Apple’s iPhones usually have smaller battery packs than the competition, though that doesn’t mean they have worse battery life. In fact, the iPhone 17 does offer better battery life than the Pixel 10 Pro, that’s just a fact. The Pixel 10 Pro has good battery life, but the iPhone 17 can keep going for longer.
In our use, the iPhone 17 offered 15-20% more screen-on time in comparison, on average. The difference is not huge, but it’s definitely something you’ll notice. Both phones will provide more than enough juice for most users. There are phones out there that offer much better battery life, no doubt about that, but these two will be good enough for most people.
What about charging? Well, they’re very close when it comes to wired charging. Both phones will take around an hour and 25 minutes to fully charge, maybe a couple of minutes more. If you get compatible chargers, as neither phone ships with one. The iPhone 17 also supports 25W MagSafe wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wired charging. The Pixel 10 Pro supports 15W wireless and 5W reverse wired charging.
Apple iPhone 17 vs Google Pixel 10 Pro: Cameras
The iPhone 17 has two cameras on the back. A 48-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size) is backed by a 48-megapixel ultrawide snapper (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 120-degree FoV). The Pixel 10 Pro, on the flip side, has three cameras on the back. A 50-megapixel main unit (1/1.31-inch sensor size) is joined by a 48-megapixel ultrawide snapper (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV), and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
Both phones can do a good job in terms of photos and videos, even though they’re nowhere near the best camera smartphones on the market. Both of them provide vivid and sharp images, with good dynamic range. The Pixel 10 Pro’s images have that contrasty Pixel look, and are not exactly color-accurate. The iPhone 17’s photos do look more color-accurate, and also lean a bit more to the colder tones.
The results these two phones provide are notably different in comparison, but both do a good job. While the Pixel 10 Pro does a solid job with video, that’s iPhone 17’s forte. It’s definitely the phone to go for if you’re planning on shooting plenty of video content, and video is more important to you than stills. The iPhone 17 also has a more versatile selfie snapper, even though both devices do a good job in that regard.
Audio
You’ll find stereo speakers on both of these phones. The ones on the Pixel 10 Pro are louder, though. The difference is not that big, but you’ll notice it. However, the audio quality that comes from both speakers is very good, and to some of you, the iPhone 17 may sound a bit better.
There is no audio jack on either smartphone. You can, however, hook up your wired headphones to their Type-C ports. Both phones also come with Bluetooth 6.0 support for wireless audio connections.
