Many of the games on the original Switch were relatively small compared to a lot of the games that were available on other platforms. However, things are surely going to change with the Nintendo Switch 2. There are loads of games being ported over that were originally only available for PS5 , Xbox Series X , and PC. Some of these games, like Elden Ring, can be absolutely massive in file size.

If you’re looking to get your hands on one of these cards for your own console, it won’t set you back too much. PNY confirms the 512GB microSD Express card will retail for $99.99. That seems pretty reasonable for half a terabyte of storage. That being said, PNY isn’t your only option for storage cards, although PNY’s cards may be the most affordable option.
A 512GB card from Lexar that’s compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 is $119.99. Samsung doesn’t make a 512GB option yet. The SanDisk option is the same price as the one from Lexar. So, at the moment, the card with the best price is the one from PNY. Which, honestly gives it the best value.
There is one downside, however. The 512GB card from PNY isn’t currently available. Luckily, PNY says it should be up for sale on Thursday, August 28, and you’ll be able to grab it for your Nintendo Switch 2 directly from this link . PNY doesn’t confirm a time when the card will be live, but it should be sometime tomorrow. If you can wait a day to grab a microSD Express card for your Nintendo Switch 2, then this is the one we’d go with. Or you can simply get one of the smaller cards that PNY already offers. The 128GB is $44.35, and the 256GB is currently on sale for $53.33.
