The Razer Boomslang, the world’s first gaming mouse, is getting a special 20th Anniversary Edition that will launch soon to celebrate Razer’s years of innovation in the gaming industry. These days, gaming mice are so widely available from so many different brands that you’d never really know that once upon a time, gaming mice were just regular mice. Before the gaming mouse category ever hit the scene, you just used what came with your PC. Then the original Razer Boomslang came along from Kärna back in 1999, followed by a newer model a year later .

Kärna LLC was where Razer started in 1998, as one of that company’s subsidiaries, branching out to what it is now in 2005 after Kärna shuttered the year following the original Boomslang’s release in 1999. Since the current iteration of Razer began in 2005, this new version of the Boomslang is to celebrate Razer’s 20th Anniversary, and not the Boomslang mouse itself, which would be closer to 26 years old at this point. There’s a little bit of Razer history for you.

The Razer Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition is hyper limited

Like a few of Razer’s other products, the new Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition mouse will be a hyper-limited offering. Razer is only making 1,337 of these, and you will have to try your luck at buying when they officially launch. Razer is probably going to do these as a drop or a series of drops.

In addition to the wireless upgrade, the mouse now supports up to a blazing-fast 45,000 DPI. The original Boomslang had 2,000 DPI. So, there’s a world of difference between the two. It also has an 8,000Hz wireless hyper polling rate and an ambidextrous design. Making it suitable for both right-handed and left-handed gamers. Razer then wraps everything up with a nice little bow in the form of PU leather buttons and a PU leather back. Razer Chroma is included as well.
