Companies like Samsung and Apple tend to create consumer electronics, such as phones and tablets, aimed at the masses. This means that while they’re perfectly fine for gaming or content creation, they’re not necessarily designed specifically for that. RedMagic, on the other hand, seems to be creating products designed for gamers in mind. If you’re looking specifically for an Android gaming tablet , then the RedMagic Astra has gone global and is now available for purchase.
RedMagic Astra goes global
For those who are hearing about the global launch of the RedMagic Astra for the first time, the tablet was announced last month in China . However, back then, it was known as the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. It’s not the most catchy of names, which is why RedMagic renamed it to the Astra for global markets.
The tablet features the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This means that it is on par in terms of performance with the best flagship phones of 2025 . It also sports a 9.06-inch OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1504×2400.
In order to keep up with the demand from games, the tablet actually comes with an active cooling system. RedMagic is calling it the 13-layer ICE-X cooling system that is said to help the tablet remain cool even under heavy loads. This is something that most smartphones do not have. It is also why our phones get hot when playing intensive games like Genshin Impact .
It has an 8,200mAh battery and 80W charging
We’re also looking at an 8,200mAh battery with support for bypass charging. It also boasts charging speeds of up to 80W. According to RedMagic, the company says users should be able to squeeze up to 33 hours of movie playback, or up to 5.56 hours of AAA gaming. Other features gamers can appreciate are a built-in PC game emulator. There are dual X-axis linear motors and DTS:X Ultra-certified speakers.
If you’re interested in grabbing the RedMagic Astra, it is available for purchase . It is priced starting at $549 for the 12GB RAM 256GB storage variant. However, there is a model with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. That version will set you back $699.
