Samsung ’s situation in the global smartphone market is both good and bad, kind of. The good news for the company is that it’s still the number one Android smartphone OEM, by far. The bad news is, the company seems to be on a downward trajectory.

Samsung’s market share is slowly shrinking

What’s going on exactly? Well, based on the information provided by Jemlit, based on AppBrain data, Samsung’s smartphone market share shrank to only 5.4% in November. So, just looking at November data, not in general.

Despite the fact that Galaxy models make up seven of the eight most popular Android devices among AppBrain users, their combined market share was only 5.4% in November. That points to a 0.5% drop in just three months, and a 2% decline over the past three years.

It is noted that the Galaxy A12 remains the top pick for Android users, with a 1.2% market share last week, nearly half of what it held in November 2022. The Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A15 models follow with 1% and 0.7% shares, respectively.

Samsung still dominates, though, by quite a margin

Still, if we look at the big picture, Samsung is still at the very top, and it’s not even close. The company holds 30.5% of the global market share amongst Android manufacturers. It is followed by Xiaomi with 15.9%, and Vivo with 11.2%. Do note that Apple is not taken into account at all, these are only Android OEMs.

Jemlit Android market share Novermber 2025 - 1

Samsung essentially makes nearly a third of global Android smartphone sales. Its share did shrink by almost 4% over the past three years, but that didn’t really affect its position in the Android smartphone market. Samsung has such a huge advantage that it would take a miracle for it to lose the no1 spot in the near future.

StatCounter noted that Android remains the leading mobile operating system worldwide. It had a 72.6% market share last month, 2.6 times more than iOS.
