Checking for the update

The One UI 8 update is a substantial download, clocking in at approximately 3GB for the Galaxy S23 Ultra model (the size may vary slightly for the S23 and S23+). Because the file is large, users should download the package using a stable Wi-Fi network. You should also ensure your phone’s battery is adequately charged—preferably above 50%—before starting the installation process.

The Galaxy S23 series launched with Android 13. Samsung promised up to four major OS upgrades to these flagship devices. The arrival of the Android 16-based One UI 8 confirms that S23 owners will receive at least one more major update in the future.

If you own an S23 model, you can manually check for the new software by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
