The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is now getting a December 2025 Android security patch . The rollout is starting in Korea, but Samsung usually pushes the update to other markets soon after, within days.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series starts getting December 2025 security patch
As a reminder, Samsung started to roll out this update last week, as the Galaxy S25 series got it first. Well, now it’s time for the previous-gen models. The Galaxy S24 , Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are getting the update.
The size of this update is around 450MB, though it may vary from one market to the other. The update itself brings fixes for dozens of issues . 57 fixes are provided by Google, six are rated critical, while the others are high-risk. Samsung also added its own fixes to the table, 11 of them.
This update is all about security, by the way, there are no new features to speak of here. One UI 8.5 Beta will add new features, though, for those of you are looking to use beta software. That’s an entirely different update that will be coming if you opt in.
It is rolling out in stages, starting in Samsung’s homeland
It’s also worth noting that this December 2025 update is rolling out in stages, as do all Samsung updates, pretty much. Even when it starts to roll out in your region, that doesn’t mean you’ll get it straight away.
It may take some time for Samsung to push it out to all Galaxy S24 devices, so be patient. You can always try to check for updates manually via Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
That does not guarantee that you’ll get the update straight away, but it can speed up the process, at times. If it’s not yet available in your region, well, you’ll just have to wait regardless.
As a reminder, the Galaxy S24 series of phones arrived early in 2024. These are not the latest Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S25 series is… but not for long. The Galaxy S26 phones are coming in Q1 next year.
