The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is one of three devices that launched on January 22, 2025 . That is the most powerful smartphone in the series, but it launched alongside the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. The ‘Ultra’ model does stand out with its design, a little, and the S Pen that is a part of the offering. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra does come with thinner bezels than its predecessor, and corners that are not as sharp as they used to be. Samsung did tweak the design a little bit, but not much. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra specs
The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 6.9-inch WQHD+ (3120 x 1440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Gorilla Armor 2 protection. That panel is flat, and it supports an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The peak brightness of this panel is 2,600 nits, in case you were wondering. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor fuels the devices. That is a slightly overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is the most powerful processor Qualcomm has to offer at the moment. It’s a 3nm chip.

There are three storage options to choose from
That processor is paired with either 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. You can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. The storage is not expandable, by the way. A 5,000mAh battery is a part of the package, and the phone supports 45W wired charging. 15W wireless charging is also supported, as is reverse wireless charging.
Samsung did include stereo speakers here, and the same goes for an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Regular facial scanning is also included, via the front-facing camera. Wi-Fi 7 is supported here, and so is Bluetooth 5.4. Android 15 comes pre-installed with One UI 7. Samsung is promising 7 years of software support for the device. The phone also comes with an IP68 certification, and its frame is made out of titanium. UWB support is also on board.
The ‘Ultra’ comes with an upgraded ultrawide camera
There are four cameras included on the back of the device. A 200-megapixel main camera (f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 1/1.3-inch sensor, 0.6um pixel size) is backed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/1.9 aperture, 120-degree FoV). The third camera on the back is a 10-megapixel telephoto unit (3x optical zoom), while the fourth is a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (5x optical zoom). A 12-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture lens) is also a part of the package.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra measures 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2mm, while it weighs 218 grams. The device comes in Titan Black, Titan Gray, Titan Silverblue, and Titan Whitesilver color options. Those are the standard colors. Additional ones will be exclusive via the Samsung Store.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The phone’s pricing, at least in the US, starts at $1,299.99. Pre-orders for the phone kick off on January 22, while the device will become available to purchase in stores on February 22. Samsung is also offering 15% off Samsung Care+ to those who pre-order, and there are also some trade-in deals available, of course.

Plenty of power under the hood
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy . That is essentially the Snapdragon 8 Elite with a higher clock speed. It’s the most powerful chip that Qualcomm has to offer at the moment, and that’s saying a lot, actually.
ProVisual Engine
ProVisual Engine is basically the company’s image processing. Samsung says that it will set “a new standard for mobile photography”. We wonder what kind of an impact will it have on the end results, as most cameras remain unchanged in terms of hardware.
Upgrade ultrawide camera
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is finally getting an ultrawide camera bump. Samsung is replacing a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with a new 50-megapixel one. That’s also a bump in the sensor size too, so ultrawide photos will hopefully be much improved.
Redesigned One UI 7
As we’ve managed to see already, thanks to leaks, One UI 7 is delivering some design changes to the table. Aside from a refreshed design, One UI 7 also packs in some new features, mostly AI-powered ones.
Improved screen protection
The Galaxy S24 Ultra shipped with the Gorilla Armor on top of its display. That protection from Corning not only offered solid protection for the display but also fought off reflections like a champ. Well, this is a new and improved version, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the first phone to feature it.

What cases are available for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
Samsung is offering a range of official cases for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. In addition to those, there are already third-party cases available out there, and many more will be coming. Let’s focus on the official ones, though, those available directly from the company and made by Samsung. The available cases are: Standing Grip Case, Rugged Case, Flipsuit Case, Flipsuit Case (Rugged), Silicone Case, Kindsuit Case, Clear Case, Anti-reflecting Film screen protector.
More than half of these cases come in more than one color. The silicone ones are actually available in a range of different colors. The Rugged Case is great if you’re very clumsy and drop your phone frequently, and so is the Standing Grip Case, though it’s fairly different due to the strap on the back. Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is very similar to its predecessor, in a number of ways. Yes, it has smaller bezels, yes it looks slightly different, and yes it’s more powerful. It even comes with a new ultrawide camera, which is a nice touch. There are a number of improvements via One UI 7, but most of those are coming to the previous model as well. If you already own the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it may not be a bad idea to stick with it for another year. This is not a huge change compared to that model, though that’s a decision only you can make, of course.

Updated February 26, 2025: (February 2025 security update)
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting the latest Android security patch , the one of February 2025. The rollout started in Korea earlier this month, but the update is now hitting a ton of markets all around the world. It is rolling out in stages, though, so keep in mind you may have to wait a bit before you get it. This update delivers almost 30 security patches from Google, for Android. Samsung went ahead and added 7 of its patches which are specific to its Galaxy smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting the Android security update for March 2025 . The rollout has started in Korea, but it’s quickly spreading to other markets. This update is based on Android 15 and One UI 7. It’s focused on security patches, there are no new features here. Speaking of which, 58 security patches have been issued, 51 from Google and 7 from Samsung. 11 of them are marked as ‘critical’, while 40 are labeled as ‘high priority’. This update is rolling out in stages, so be patient.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now receiving the April 2025 security update , just like its siblings. This update brings a total of 56 security fixes to the table. 42 of those fixes come straight from Google, while Samsung added the rest. 5 fixes from Google are marked as ‘critical’, while 37 are tagged as ‘high priority’. Samsung fixes one critical, four ‘high priority’, and four ‘moderate’ security issues.
With that being said, this update also improves camera, charging, and general software stability on the device. On top of that, a media playback widget is now visible in the notification shade. A Now Bar pill is also visible in the status bar, which was not the case thus far.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting the May 2025 Android security update . The rollout is actually starting in the US, which is a bit of a surprise, as it usually kicks off in Samsung’s homeland, Korea. That’s not the only surprise here, though. Not only is it rolling out in the US first, but it’s rolling out to carrier-locked devices first. With that being said, we don’t know exactly what security changes it brings, as Samsung still didn’t release the information about it. What we do know, however, is that it’s rolling out in stages, so you may have to wait a bit before it lands on your particular phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, along with its siblings, now has access to Android 16. It has access to it via the One UI 8 Beta program that the company just launched. These are the only three phones that have access to it at the moment. You do need to live in Germany, South Korea, the UK, or the US in order to get the update, though. More markets are expected to join shortly, along with more phones as well. You’ll need the Samsung Members app from the Google Play Store to install this update. Also, note that the update weighs around 3 GB before you proceed, and also note that bugs are possible, as this is a beta update after all. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has started receiving the June 2025 Android security update. The update has started to roll out in Korea, but it’s coming to more markets as we speak. Be on the lookout. It is rolling out in stages, though, so even when it arrives to your region, you’ll have to be patient. This update delivers 19 security fixes from Samsung, aimed at One UI 7. Google has added 18 of its own fixes for Android OS in general. This update is based on Android 15, but preparations for Android 16-based One UI 8 are being made.

Samsung usually follows Google’s lead, and simply adds its own security fixes on top of Google’s. Well, this month’s update from Google was rather odd. Why? Well, it did not contain security fixes, not a single one. Well, Samsung did add 40 of its own , one of which is marked as ‘critical’. Samsung Semiconductor also threw in a fix in there. The update for the Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs around 500MB, though it could differ a bit from one market to the next. It’s also worth noting that, while the update is rolling out, it’s rolling out in stages. So, you’ll need to be patient.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting a new Android security update . This one is for August 2025, and it’s all about security fixes. As part of it, Google added 1 critical and over a dozen high-priority fixes. Samsung has added 18 fixes of its own to the pack. The update weighs over 500MB, and it’s not yet rolling out to all regions, so keep that in mind. It’s also rolling out in stages, so you’ll have to be patient. There are no new features included here.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting the One UI 8 update. This update is based on Android 16, and the company announced the start of its rollout today. The update has been seen in South Korea prior to the announcement, and it’s quickly spreading to various markets. Do note that it may take some time before it reaches your phone, so stay patient. It is rolling out in stages. Samsung highlighted Now Bar, Now Brief, Knox, Knox Matrix, and the upgraded Secure Wi-Fi from this update. Audio Eraser was also mentioned as a number of features that Google brings forward.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now getting its first post-One UI 8.0 update. This one brings a security boost, as we’re talking about the October 2025 Android security update . The update has started to roll out in Thailand first, though it has spread to more markets by now. It will reach everyone soon. The update weighs around 560MB, and it brings fixes for 34 vulnerabilities that are marked as ‘high priority’. Do note that the update is rolling out in stages, so you may need to be patient.

Samsung is now rolling out the November 2025 Android update to the Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This update weighs over 500MB, and the rollout kicked off in South Korea. The thing is, it has already spread to some other markets. If you didn’t get it yet, you will soon. Even when it arrives in your region, it is rolling out in stages, so be patient. With that being said, this update brings 25 security fixes from Google and 9 from Samsung. Samsung also included some Exynos-related fixes in the update. There are no new features included here, by the way, it’s all about security.

The rollout started in Korea, but it will quickly spread to other markets, if it hasn’t already. When it does arrive to your region, it will roll out in stages, so be patient. This update delivers 55 security patches, 23 of which are from Google. 4 are from Samsung Semiconductor, while the rest come from Samsung Mobile. One patch is marked as ‘critical’, 28 are marked as ‘high risk’, while three are of a ‘moderate’ importance.
