It has been announced alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 , Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE and the company’s new smartwatch lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 specs

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. That is an overclocked version of the company’s most powerful processor. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, while Samsung offers 256GB and 512GB storage (UFS 4.0) options. Storage expansion is not available, by the way.

It has two very compelling displays

The phone’s main display is an 8-inch QXGA+ (2184 x 1968) Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. It offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The cover display on the phone measures 6.5 inches, and it’s a fullHD+ (2520 x 1080) panel. This is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display too, but it doesn’t fold, of course. It also offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz).

A 4,400mAh battery is also a part of the package, while the phone supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The phone is IP48 certified for water and dust resistance, and it utilizes Armor Aluminum Frame. Bluetooth 5.4 is also on offer here, while Android 16 comes pre-installed, along with One UI 8. Wi-Fi 7 is supported here too.

The phone includes a much-improved main camera

There are three cameras on the back of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. A 200-megapixel main camera (f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 0.6um pixel size, 85-degree FoV) is included, along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide snapper (f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV, 1.4um pixel size). The third camera on the back is a 10-megapixel telephoto unit (f/2.4 aperture, 36-degree FoV, 3x optical zoom). There is also a 10-megapixel selfie camera on each of the two displays.

The S Pen support is gone here, by the way, the phone doesn’t support it, unlike its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 measures 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.9mm when folded, and 158.4 x 143.2 x 4.2mm when unfolded. It weighs 215 grams, and there is a side-facing fingerprint scanner included in the package.

How much does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 cost?

Yes, Samsung did increase the price tag for this year’s book-style foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 starts at $1,999.99 in the US. That represents a $100 price increase compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 from last year. Some of you may remember that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was $100 more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. So, this is not exactly surprising. Also, this is a price tag for the 256GB storage variant, the 512GB storage model will set you back $2,099.99.

What carriers does it work on?

As expected, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will work just fine on all US carriers, basically. That includes the big dogs, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, along with all of their MVNOs. So, the device will also work on Visible, US Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Cricket, and more. You don’t really have to worry about its compatibility.

What colors does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 come in?

Samsung has presented the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in three color options. You’ll be able to choose between Blue Shadow, Jetblack, and Silver Shadow colors. In other words, blue, black, and silver colors are on offer. From what we’ve seen, many people dig the Blue Shadow color, but there’s something here for everyone. Granted, Samsung did not go out of its way to create more exciting colors, but that is to be expected when it comes to the Galaxy Z Fold series. More serious colors are to be expected, which is fine.

What new upgrades does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have over the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and what noteworthy features in general?

There are quite a few upgrades that the Fold 7 brings over the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but two of them pop. I won’t spoil the fun, but those will be the first two subheadings you’ll find below. We’ll list some of the improvements here, as there are more smaller things. So, let’s get to it.

Thin is in

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a lot thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.1mm thick when folded, compared to the Fold 7’s 8.9mm. You’ll immediately feel the difference. The Fold 6 was considered to be thick by today’s standards, but the Galaxy Z Fold 7 equals the thickness of one of the thinnest foldable phones around, the OPPO Find N5. The HONOR Magic V5 is only 0.1mm thinner than those two when folded. All in all, Samsung finally did what the consumers were asking.

So, so light

In addition to being a lot thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, it’s also a lot lighter. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239 grams, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215 grams. It is 24 grams lighter, which is also something you’ll easily feel in the hand. It is lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, actually, which is a regular phone, not a foldable. In fact, this makes the Fold 7 lighter than both the OPPO Find N5 and HONOR Magic V5. It does have a considerably smaller battery, though, so… that’s not surprising.

The most powerful Samsung foldable thus far

The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy fuels this phone, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful chip at the moment. It’s an overclocked variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. That, in combination with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, makes the Fold 7 the most powerful foldable from the company thus far.

Improved photography

Samsung did improve both the main and ultrawide cameras on the phone. The main camera has been changed completely, as it is now a 200-megapixel unit, compared to a 50-megapixel unit on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung claims that this camera can provide 4x more details and offer 44% brighter shots. The ultrawide camera can now provide 56% brighter shots, Samsung says.

More screen real estate & wider screens

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers larger displays than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, both of them. It has an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. The Fold 6, on the flip side, has a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.3-inch cover panel. Many people will enjoy the wider cover display, that’s for sure, but both of them are wider.

Waterdrop hinge, finally

Samsung has finally decided to use a waterdrop hinge in a Fold device. That helped greatly with creasage, and it’s what many other companies have been doing for a while now. The hinge itself also includes some titanium, as it has been completely reworked compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s hinge.

Major upgrade support

Samsung is offering 7 years’ worth of OS and security upgrades. Yes, this phone will be getting major updates for 7 years, not only security updates, though it’s nice to see that security patches will be coming for just as long. This is the same practice Samsung used for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but it’s nice to see that it continues with this year’s model.

What cases are available for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Samsung has a bunch of official cases to offer, for the Fold 7. On the company’s official page, you’ll find 6 cases, many of which are available in several color options. In addition to those 6 cases, there’s also a screen protector listed. Do note that the information has been grabbed from the company’s official website for the US. You’ll find all the cases below, along with their price tags, and purchase links. Some cases are not yet available, as you’ll see, even though they’re listed. Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7?

The Fold 7 may be $100 more expensive than its predecessor, but… it does make a notable step forward, at least from the hardware standpoint. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 feels like a brick in the hand compared to the Fold 7, and that says a lot. It’s a shame Samsung didn’t opt for a silicon-carbon battery to offer more battery capacity, but the thickness and weight improvements alone may be worth it to some, not to mention the photography improvements.
