Samsung is reportedly going to manufacture very few Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus models at launch. At least according to Ice Universe, who has been very accurate with Samsung leaks in the past.
Ice has noted that the Galaxy S26 will have an initial production run of 700K, the Galaxy S26 Plus will have a run of 600K, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a run of 3.6 million units. Showing just how few of the smaller Galaxy S26 models Samsung believes it will sell.
Now, we do already know that the Ultra vastly outsells the other versions in the Galaxy S family, with a big gap before the base model, and last place is usually the Plus model. And that looks to be the case again this year.
Samsung has already made its choice. And it did so with production numbers. Galaxy S26 Ultra: around 3.6 million units. Galaxy S26: about 700 thousand. Galaxy S26+: just 600 thousand. The gap is so large that it barely needs interpretation. When a company allocates most of its… pic.twitter.com/QNBkBEK7Lw — Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) February 2, 2026
The Ultra model usually accounts for more than 50% of Galaxy S sales
In previous years, the Ultra has sold more than half of the Galaxy S device sales for previous generations. So this shows that Samsung really wants to push more people to the Ultra and also shows that the early buyers are most likely buying the Ultra over the base or the Plus models.
This also explains why its the Ultra that gets the upgrades while the base and Plus models have seen very few upgrades in the past five years. In fact, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus are rumored to be using the exact same cameras from the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus that launched in 2022. That’s kind of insane when you think about it. Samsung pops in the new chip, adds a fresh coat of paint, and that’s it.
Samsung is rumored to be announcing the Galaxy S26 series on February 25. The company has not yet sent out invites for Unpacked, but we do expect those to be coming very soon.
