Samsung is preparing a notable quality-of-life improvement for its Galaxy users. Like Google, the South Korean giant continues to integrate artificial intelligence tirelessly into everyday mobile tasks. Code spotted within a leaked One UI 8.5 firmware suggests that Samsung’s native My Files app will soon gain a smart summarization feature, effectively reading and summarizing documents before the user even opens them.

This upcoming feature, internally referred to as “Short summary,” was spotted by Android Authority . It is designed to enhance productivity and reduce friction when managing digital clutter. Once a user enables the feature, “My Files” will automatically generate brief previews of the contents of PDF and TXT files. These summaries will likely appear directly within the file browser list, providing an immediate snapshot of the document’s content.

One UI 8.5 to bring AI summaries for auto file previews on Samsung Galaxy devices

This addition could be particularly useful when dealing with documents that have vague, confusing, or repetitive file names. Instead of opening multiple files to confirm which one contains the necessary information, users will be able to check the summary preview and quickly select the correct document.

There is still no confirmation about the exact technology driving this feature. After all, generating accurate summaries typically relies on some form of AI processing. Will the feature resort to on-device processing to create the summaries? This would be ideal for privacy and speed. Or, on the other hand, will Samsung rely on cloud-based services? Plus, will there be any file size limitations on the documents that the phone can summarize? There is still a lot to know about it, but the initial hitns are promising.

My Files becoming more proactive

The same firmware leak suggests My Files will become a more proactive personal assistant. Samsung appears to be developing a “travel-aware” storage management system. The My Files app may soon detect when a user is traveling and proactively prompt them to clear space. This reminder would help ensure users have enough storage available for the new photos and videos they plan to capture while on vacation.

Recent reports suggest that the beta program for One UI 8.5 will begin as early as this month. Thanks to previous tips, we already know several new features and improvements it will bring. The company will debut this major update with the launch of new flagship devices. This time, it will arrive alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026.
