When your Wi-Fi signal drops right in the middle of a video call or a crucial moment in an online game, few things are more frustrating. That momentary lag or dropped connection can turn a smooth experience into a stuttering mess. Fortunately, Samsung appears to be heavily focused on fixing these exact Wi-Fi issues with its next point update, One UI 8.5 .

Early leaks suggest that Samsung is introducing some smart quality-of-life improvements. Among them, some aim to make your phone manage connectivity so you don’t have to. The biggest additions center on how your Galaxy device decides when to ditch a weak Wi-Fi signal and switch to faster mobile data.

Samsung is reportedly preparing two powerful, AI-based toggles to handle network transitions seamlessly.

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 will bring seamless Wi-Fi connectivity with AI

As reported by SammyGuru , the first is the Intelligent Link Assessment. This feature acts like a real-time health monitor for your Wi-Fi. It immediately analyzes data like the connection’s speed and latency. If your phone determines that the Wi-Fi link is too slow or unstable for a good user experience, it automatically switches you to cellular data without waiting for the signal bars to disappear entirely.

The second feature, Intelligent Network Switch, takes things a step further by learning your routine. If you regularly walk into a “Wi-Fi dead zone”—say, a specific corner of your office or a spot in your home—and manually switch to mobile data, this feature remembers that history. Your phone can then intelligently anticipate the connection failure and switch you over before the Wi-Fi connection becomes unusable. This should prevent interruptions altogether.

Beyond smarter switching, One UI 8.5 is also tackling connectivity within a network connection. A new feature called Realtime Data Priority Mode in the Wi-Fi settings aims to directly eliminate those annoying lags. The feature prioritizes data for demanding tasks like real-time gaming or video calling. Then, the phone intentionally pushes low-priority background tasks—such as automatic app updates—to the back burner. This ensures your immediate, interactive apps get the bandwidth they need to run smoothly.

These additions promise a smoother everyday experience. They’ll minimize the need to manually toggle settings when you are on the move. While the company still needs to finalize development—and some minor features like “Secure Wi-Fi” may be temporarily unavailable in test builds—One UI 8.5 is shaping up to bring better connectivity.
