Samsung is officially putting the Galaxy Z TriFold on sale tomorrow, here in the US. But ahead of tomorrow’s launch, Samsung is giving select customers early-access to buy the device, including yours truly.

The email says that it is a limited quantity and available today only. And you’ll be able to buy it in-store or online.

This early access does answer an important question, though: Trade-ins? Unfortunately, there’s no trade-in option at all when buying the Galaxy Z TriFold, at least online. This might be different in-store. You are, however, able to finance it. You can do Samsung Financing, which will be $120.80/month for 24 months, or pay in four installments of $724.25 every two weeks. But that’s about it for options. There are no carrier versions available either.

Samsung could opt to allow trade-ins in-store, which is what we’ve been hearing. But where Samsung is not making very many Galaxy Z TriFolds, it’s likely that they are making it harder to buy than any of their other devices.

The official Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold release date is set for January 30, 2026, in the US.

Galaxy Z TriFold is the first trifold available globally

The Galaxy Z TriFold is only the second TriFold device in the world that is actually being sold. And it’s the first to be sold globally. Huawei was first back in 2024, but the Mate XT and the Mate XTs from 2025 were only sold in Asia, mostly only in China. So this is huge for Samsung and those who want a phone that can unfold into an actual tablet.

Samsung has outfitted the Galaxy Z TriFold with a 6.5-inch outer display and a 10-inch inner display, which is closer to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Making it a much better experience for watching content versus something like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , which has a square inner display and shows you plenty of black bars.
