On Wednesday, Sony announced the LinkBuds Clip, their latest entry into its LinkBuds lineup . These are, as you can tell by the name, another clip-style earbud. Which is all the rage these days, with Motorola, Huawei, and many others opting for this style – it’s a style I actually prefer.
The Sony LinkBuds Clip essentially clips onto your ears so that the earbud is not entirely inside your ear. This is great because it allows you to still hear what’s going on around you, and it fits better. Since not everyone has the same-sized ear.
Sony has also included optional fitting cushions for those who need a tighter fit. Battery life on the LinkBuds Clip are pretty exceptional, with 9 hours of continuous playback and about 37 hours of total playback with the included case. Sony says that you can get an hour of playback from just a three-minute charge. Good for those times you forgot to charge your LinkBuds Clip before heading to the gym.
The LinkBuds Clip will be available in four colors: Lavender, Gray, Green, and Black. Sony is also offering a Case Cover for the LinkBuds Clip, which will be sold separately. These are soft-touch case that can really customize your earbuds, and also add a carabiner to the case so that you’re less likely to lose them. The top and bottom are sold separately, so you can mix and match to customize your buds.

Sony offers better sound leakage reduction and adaptive volume control
The Sony LinkBuds Clip also offer reduced sound leakage. In our demo, it was really noticeable how much the sound leakage was reduced. You could really only hear the other person’s LinkBuds Clip if the volume was completely maxed out. Meaning you can wear these on the train and others around you won’t hear what you’re listening too.
Sony has also used an AI algorithm to precisely extract the human voice from environmental noise, to improve the AI Noise Reduction when on calls. Sony is also using a bone conduction sensor to identify when the user is talking, along with the sound the microphones pick up to accurately capture the user’s voice for clear calls.
Of course, the LinkBuds Clip also has support for Google Fast Pair and all of the other specs you’d expect to see.
Pricing and Availability
As mentioned, the Sony LinkBuds Clip will be available in four colors: Lavender, Gray, Green, and Black. They will also retail for $229. Putting them in a sweet spot in Sony’s lineup , below their flagship earbuds teh WF-1000XM5 and the LinkBuds Fit, but at the same price as the LinkBuds Open.
The LinkBuds Clip case covers and fitting cushions will be available in coral, ash green, ash blue, lavender, and pure black for $24.99 each.
