Sony has just dropped a teaser on YouTube, hinting at a mysterious, new audio product. The launch event is set for Wednesday, January 21. While there are no official details other than a tagline that reads, “a new form of listening,” we may finally have some details about it. After The Walkman Blog spotted the teaser, reports began floating on the internet that the mysterious device could be the long-rumored Sony WF-1000XM6 headphones; however, folks at Dealabs shut down those hopes, claiming that it is, in fact, the Sony LinkBuds Clip .
No, Sony isn’t launching WF-1000XM6 headphones next week, the teaser is for the LinkBuds Clip
Sony has launched a bunch of pairs under the LinkBuds series until now. So, it’s an addition to the existing lineup. Dealabs, in its report, also mentions that the Sony LinkBuds Clip will carry the model number WF-LC900. If you saw JBL’s Soundgear Clips at the CES 2026 showcase, Sony’s will be similar to those. Expect the new Sony earbuds to feature some kind of clip or hook that goes around your ear to keep them intact for prolonged use or during your morning jogs.
The earbuds are said to be lightweight while featuring an open-ear design. That apparently ensures you’re always aware of your surroundings by letting ambient sounds through. Per the report, the Sony LinkBuds Clip will come with three listening modes and support 360-degree Reality Audio and spatial sound personalization.
You can also expect to see four color options , black, green, purple, and cream, at launch. The earbuds also come with an IPX4 rating. So, they should be good for sweaty gym sessions or morning runs when there’s a bit of a drizzle. As far as battery life is concerned, you might get nine hours, which bumps up to an extra 28 hours with the case. The Sony LinkBuds Clip might go on sale with a price tag of $229.99 (~£170 / AU$345). The availability of the earbuds might vary by region, even extending to January 30, 2026, in some regions.

Many hoped for the WF-1000XM6 headphones
Speculation around the Sony WF-1000XM6 has increased in recent weeks, thanks to leaks and rumors. Sadly, Sony’s latest teaser appears to be for the LinkBuds Clip. Considering that the Sony WF-1000XM5 was a hit, people have high hopes with the successor. Per the rumors, the audio tech giant’s upcoming headphones will launch on February 12. So, we are less than a month away from that.
