Google is updating the Pixel watch family to Wear OS 6.1 as part of the latest update to its smartwatches, and it includes a handful of features like the double pinch and wrist turn gestures, new AOD changes , and more. The update is being rolled out to all models of the Pixel Watch except for the original Pixel Watch. That means if you have the Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, or the Pixel Watch 4 (one of the best smartwatches of 2025 ), then you should already have the update available, or you should be seeing it soon.
It’s also worth noting that not all features from this update will be available for all models getting the update. For instance, the new one-handed gestures are limited to the Pixel Watch 4. However, the enhanced smart replies will be available for the Pixel Watch 3 as well, and the new AOD changes should hit all three models.
The Wear OS 6.1 update for the Pixel Watch 2 and above includes one-handed gestures
While this is only available for Pixel Watch 4 owners, it wasn’t immediately clear during the announcement about the one-handed gestures when they would actually be available. As it turns out, that time is now, likely for most users, and throughout the next couple of weeks for any remaining users. This includes the ability to double pinch for several different functions, like answering and ending calls, dismissing notifications, stopping timers, dismissing alarms, and more. However, it’s noted that the answering and ending calls are listed as coming soon . So those two things don’t appear to be live with this update.
The wrist turn gesture is also part of this update, and you’ll be able to use that for things like silencing incoming calls. The Raise to Talk tutorial for Pixel Watch 4 will also pop up, and the enhanced smart replies will start working on the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 3.
The improved AOD changes might be the most exciting, though. These will go live across all three models of the watch mentioned above, so it’ll be the most widely available feature.
