Batteries are still a large part of our tech lives. We can’t really escape from them, with AA and AAA batteries in particular used in a range of devices.
These include your gaming mouse, controllers, handhelds, remotes, and much more besides. There’s nothing worse than not having a new set when one runs out either.
So we were happy to get our hands on the EBL Charger, which comes with sets of high-capacity AA/AAA batteries for everyday use.
So what is it?
A battery charger is a fairly straightforward device, but the EBL Charger is still clearly one of the best in its class.
It has a weighty but not clunky feel, with spaces where AA and AAA batteries can easily be clipped in. Again this is tactile and easy to operate, with prongs that keep them in place without feeling flimsy or cheap.
And here’s where the magic happens – or as much magic as a battery charger can muster at least. As above every battery there’s a screen segment where it tells you how much charge each battery has.
This might be a small detail, but it’s massively useful and also means you mix and match the batteries as you wish – using them when needed and easily being able to see which ones are fully charged.
The batteries themselves are also impressive, holding their charge for ages after our time with them. They put supermarket purchased batteries to charge, and it was a little eye-opening in all honesty.
The Greenwave gift box
The set we were sent came in a lovely Greenwave Gift Box too , pictured above. It includes the charger and batteries, but a range of other items that show EBL’s dedication to sustainable energy.
This includes a hat, wristband, magnet, pin badges, and even instructions on how to use the box itself as a planter.
It was all presented beautifully, with Flik – EBL’s adorable desert fox mascot – present and correct on all of it. He represents “agility, curiosity, and sustainable energy” apparently, and who are we to argue.
