The Nintendo Switch 2 is probably not the first console you think about when you think about playing Call of Duty . That’s understandable, given that Call of Duty is a pretty competitive game that’s also very demanding. The franchise’s resource-intensive nature is a big reason why none of the Call of Duty games over the last 7 or so years made it to the Nintendo Switch. The hardware couldn’t handle it. Things have changed with the Nintendo Switch 2, though. The hardware is more powerful. If the Switch 2 can handle ports like Cyberpunk 2077, it can certainly handle Call of Duty.

If you’re a Switch 2 owner who also likes the CoD franchise, you’ll eventually have the opportunity to play it on the console. Back during Microsoft’s Activision acquisition approval process, it promised regulators that it would bring Call of Duty to the Nintendo platform as part of the agreements it made. The big question since then has been when Microsoft plans to bring the franchise over. A new rumor claims that it’s happening in 2026.

The first Call of Duty game will land on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026

It’s not clear exactly when this is happening, other than next year. However, it seems that in all likelihood, the Switch 2 will be getting a Call of Duty game in the early part of the year. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden on X (via Wccftech ), Call of Duty is coming to the console in the next few months . That would suggest that it’ll be arriving for the Nintendo Switch 2 somewhere between January and April. That being said, neither Nintendo, Microsoft, nor Activision has confirmed any details regarding the Call of Duty franchise on Nintendo’s latest console.

Since it was part of Microsoft’s agreement for the approval to buy Activision, Call of Duty will have to come to the console at some point. It’s important to note that Corden has also stated that he “wouldn’t say close, but it’s on the way and hitting milestones, 2026,” when asked whether or not the game was close to a release. Keeping this in mind, a launch may not be in the next few months, but rather sometime in the second half of the year. For example, it would make sense for Microsoft and Activision to target the Nintendo Switch 2 with whatever the Call of Duty game in 2026 will be.
