Most games are compatible with Windows, especially Xbox games , but this isn’t as true for Windows PCs running on ARM-based processors. ARM PCs have been able to play some games, but there were a lot of inconsistencies until more recently. That’s changing today, though, at least to some degree, with the arrival of the Xbox app on ARM PCs running Windows 11.
This will open up a lot of gaming opportunities for users of devices like Samsung’s Galaxy Book4 Edge and other similar Galaxy Book devices that have Snapdragon processors inside. This also includes Snapdragon X-based PCs, like the HP Omnibook 5 and Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x. The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme -based PCs should have access down the line as well. This not only means that ARM-based PCs are compatible with more games, but the Xbox app is compatible with a fairly wide variety of ARM-based PCs. And seeing as how there are loads of available titles in the Xbox app for those with a Game Pass subscription, there are a lot of titles that users likely wouldn’t have the chance to play otherwise. At least not without having another piece of hardware to play on.
More than 85% of the Xbox Game Pass catalog will be playable on ARM PCs
Xbox Game Pass offers access to several hundred different games at any given moment. Microsoft is constantly cycling these games, with some sticking around basically indefinitely. Now that the Xbox app is available on ARM-based PCs, laptops like those running on the Snapdragon X Elite chipsets can play a lot more games. That being said, not every game will be playable.
Microsoft says that about 85% of the Xbox Game Pass catalog is compatible with these PCs. That’s still hundreds, but there will be some that won’t work. At least for now. Microsoft makes it all work with its Prism emulator layer, and it even supports Easy Anti-Cheat, which means multiplayer games that use Easy Anti-Cheat should be playable on ARM PCs if they’re in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. The Xbox app should be available for download as of today.
