Roku 50” Select Series 4K TV– $229
This is Roku’s Select Series of TVs, which are cheaper but still very good values.
Other sizes are also on sale:
- 43″ – $199 (reg. $249)
- 50″ – $229 (reg. $299)
- 55″ – $298 (reg. $349)
- 65″ – Not in stock, currently.
- 75″ – $499 (reg. $699)
- 85″ – $899 (reg. $1,149)
What I really like about the Roku Select Series of TVs is that these are cheap TVs that are actually good. Sure, you won’t get the same experience as you would on a few thousand-dollar OLED TVs, but this is a TV that has an MSRP of just $299, so that’s expected. However, we found that it has adequate contrast and middling HDR brightness. This means that it is fine to watch HDR content in dark rooms, but the blacks look a bit more gray in dark scenes, which is also because of the backlight situation here. It doesn’t have individual backlights like a QLED or OLED TV would.
I found that this TV performs the best when you are watching high-quality 4K content from physical sources. This is because the image processing capabilities are not quite the best when working with low-quality or low-bitrate content.
Roku also has some pretty low input lag, making it great for gaming. But again, considering this price, it’s not surprising to see that HDMI 2.1, VRR, and ALLM are all missing here. Those are usually found on TVs that are closer to $1,000.
This is a fantastic TV to pick up, and given the fact it hasn’t gone on sale in over 6 months, now is the time to buy.
