Despite its name, social media can feel a bit lonely at times. But TikTok is taking steps to change that by announcing a couple of changes to the platform. The company is introducing a couple of new features , one of which is Shared Collections, while the other is Shared Feed, features that should make TikTok feel more social than ever.

TikTok Shared Feed

One of the new features of TikTok is Shared Feed, and the name basically gives it away. This is a feed that users can share with their friends and family members through direct messaging. It will show users in the chat relevant content, which means that everyone in the chat will essentially see the content that the other person is seeing.

According to TikTok, “Each day, friends and family members will find a curated selection of 15 videos in their private chat aligned with their interests. Each Shared Feed is unique to the people who join it, and videos are generated based on their TikTok activity, such as what they like, watch, and comment on.”

Shared Feed is sent via an invitation, and users in the chat can see metrics like what videos they both liked and their Shared Like history. If it starts feeling a bit too spammy, you’re free to leave this Shared Feed anytime. TikTok says the feature is expected to roll out globally over the coming months.

This change is part of TikTok’s efforts to make its feed more relevant to users. The company also recently introduced a Nearby Feed feature . This allows users to view more localized content based on their location.

TikTok Shared Collection

Next up is TikTok’s Shared Collection feature. Chances are you’re familiar with TikTok’s “save” feature, which lets you save content in your collection for future reference. Shared Collection builds on that, with the main difference being that users can now share their collection with others.

Maybe you’re looking to renovate your home, redecorate a room, or plan a holiday. You can create a collection and share it with the relevant parties. However, TikTok says that to create a Shared Collection, both users need to follow one another. The feature is rolling out now to global accounts for users over 16.
