Yet another data breach has been spotted , and this time around, 149 million login credentials have been stolen . That includes apps such as Gmail , Instagram, Netflix , and so on. It doesn’t sound good, that’s for sure.
149 million unique logins and passwords have been exposed in a massive data breach
This data breach was spotted by a security researcher, Jeremiah Fowler, and he shared the findings with ExpressVPN. The publicly exposed database was not password-protected or encrypted. It contained 149,404,754 unique logins and passwords and totaled a massive 96GB of raw data.
The exposed records include usernames and passwords from users all around the world. They also span a wide range of popular online services, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
The source also says that OnlyFans credentials are also included, as well as a number of streaming and entertainment accounts, including Netflix, HBOmax, Disney+, Roblox, and others. Financial services accounts are mentioned as well. Some Google credentials were also stolen.
ExpressVPN mentions that the presence of credentials associated with .gov domains from numerous countries is extremely concerning. Needless to say, exposing such credentials can be used for impersonation, phishing, and more.
48 million Gmail credentials were stolen, along with 17 million from Facebook, and so on
Let’s get into some exact numbers, shall we? Starting with email providers. The source reports that 48 million Gmail credentials were stolen, along with 4 million Yahoo credentials, and 1.5 million Outlook credentials. 900,000 iCloud credentials were also stolen, and 1.4 million .edu credentials.
Regarding some other notable accounts, it’s worth noting that 17 million Facebook credentials were stolen, along with 6.5 million Instagram credentials, and 780,000 TikTok credentials. Add to that 3.4 million from Netflix, 100,000 from OnlyFans, and 420,000 from Binance.
This is a serious security problem, as is every such breach, but tons of users have been affected here, making it that much more of a problem.
