Samsung is finally preparing to unveil the new Galaxy XR headset , which they first started teasing at Unpacked in January. While it was initially announced as ‘Project Moohan’, the final marketing name should be Galaxy XR. And it’ll be the first product running on the Android XR platform – which Google announced last December.
The event is a late one, likely to coincide with the Korean launch. That also makes us think that the device will be limited to Korea only. Or possibly a couple of other countries in that area. Either way, the event will kick off at 10 PM ET on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. And you can watch it right here.

Galaxy XR is here to compete with Apple Vision Pro
While we aren’t expecting the Galaxy XR headset to be incredibly cheap, we are expecting it to be cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro. Which the company just updated with the new Apple M5 chipset and it’s still $3,499. We expect that Samsung will want around $2,000 for the Galaxy XR. Of course, we’ll find out for sure when it is announced later today.
This is Samsung’s first VR headset in quite some time. You might remember the Galaxy VR headset from well over a decade ago, that was powered by your smartphone. Well, the Galaxy XR is going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2, according to the leak we published a few weeks ago.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy XR should open shortly after the event commences. So you’ll be able to head over to Samsung.com to get your order in. If you haven’t already, you can still reserve your Galaxy XR headset and get a $100 credit .
