A ton of information about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra just popped up, official information. We now know when the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch, its design has been confirmed, and the same goes for a major camera upgrade. On top of that, an official camera sample has been shared as well.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch on December 25 in the company’s homeland
Let’s take things one step at a time, though, starting with the phone’s launch. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will become official on December 25 in China. Do note that a global model will get a separate launch. If we had to take a wild guess, we’d say it’ll happen in January or February , but who knows.
That’s when the Xiaomi 17 series is expected to launch. The ‘Ultra’ model arrived later on last year, but considering that the Chinese model will launch early this time, a February launch seems about right. In fact, there were even some rumors that only the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch globally.
The design of the device has been confirmed as well
With that being said, let’s talk about the phone’s design. If you take a look at the images in the gallery below and the teaser video below that, you’ll get to see the design of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
The phone will have a flat display and a flat backplate this time around. A larger circular camera island will still be included on the back, though, with four cameras. Leica will be a part of the equation as well, of course.
It will have round volume buttons this time around and launch in at least two colors
The phone will have circular volume up and down buttons this time around . Those buttons will sit above the power/lock key on the right-hand side. You can see both a black/dark gray and green models in the provided images/video.
The green model will be called the ‘Starry Green’, and it will imitate stars on a green canvas, as you can see. It actually looks really nice, that’s hard to deny. We’re hoping that the Starry Green color will make its way to global markets.
Both its main and telephoto camera will be massively improved
This smartphone is expected to utilize a 50-megapixel main camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto unit, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The main camera is expected to offer a massively improved dynamic range, that is more than ten times better than the previous generation.
The telephoto camera is said to have one of the most complex structures in the industry. It is expected to be 35% larger than before , and come with a Leica APO certification for improved optical quality. It is also 2x more expensive than the telephoto unit in the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This will be a periscope telephoto camera, of course.
The company even shared a camera sample
If you take a look at the image below, you’ll see the very first official camera sample taken with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. It’s a picture taken in extremely dark conditions with fireworks in the back, it would seem.
