The Xiaomi 17 series debuted in China last year and has a total of four models, including the premium Xiaomi 17 Ultra . The phones haven’t even debuted in global regions, but we’re already seeing leaks regarding this year’s flagship, presumably the Xiaomi 18 series. A new leak coming from China sheds light on the Xiaomi 18 series camera and charging details. This also shows the areas where it’ll differ from the predecessors.
Xiaomi 18 series camera and charging details tipped
Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo , without explicitly naming the phones , reveals some early details of Xiaomi 18. The leak says that all models in the series will feature a periscope telephoto lens and wireless charging. This means the vanilla model will finally get a major camera upgrade this year in the form of a periscope telephoto sensor.
For context, the vanilla Xiaomi 17 features a 50MP telephoto lens with 2.6x zoom. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max variants get a 50MP 5X periscope telephoto camera that can also click telemacro shots.

The lineup may debut in the second half of the year
Besides cameras, the tipster claims the Xiaomi 18 series will offer a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and wireless charging support. The phones could also offer “high-standard” waterproof protection. It’s explicitly not clear what this means, but we’re guessing improved ingress protection.
With these improvements, the tipster notes the standard Xiaomi 18 will “usher in a wave of great enhancements.” What this means is that the company could be closing the gap between the standard and Pro models, at least to some extent. There are speculations that the standard Xiaomi 18 will use Xiaomi 17 Pro’s imaging tech, which should come off as an upgrade over the predecessor. The Xiaomi flagships may debut in the latter half of the year.
