It’s almost that time of the year when we’ll start seeing a recap of the year. YouTube Music is rolling out its 2025 Recap, and more uniquely , that too. There’s an AI -powered “ask about your listening experience” chat that gives you insight into your listening habits during the course of the year.
YouTube Music 2025 recap is here
The tech giant is jumping the gun here, as there’s still a little over a month until the end of the year. This has been Google’s schedule. Last year too it released the Music Recap on November 20, and a year before, it hit on November 30th. Spotify made recaps popular, with users rushing to share them on social media platforms year after year. This quickly became a tradition, and other music streaming services have adapted it. This shows what users listened to during the year.
Reportedly, the 2025 recap is similar to previous years. It shows how long you listened to each artist. There are also highlights for things like your top artist, which YouTube calls “musical bestie.” The “musical passport” showcases the different places that the artists you listen to are from.

New AI chat feature
What makes this year different is the AI Chat. You can converse with it to get insights and AI commentary on your listening habits. There are prompt suggestions like: “Invent five genres to describe my listening,” “How did my listening change over the past year,” Describe my listening as a weather report,” and “Was my music more chill or hype.” You will get responses in a graphic, which is shareable.
While YouTube Music Recap started appearing to some users, it isn’t available to everyone yet. It appears, though, that it may take some time to roll out. You can check for it from YouTube Music, tapping your profile icon in the upper-right-hand corner and selecting “Your Recap” from the drop-down list.
