YouTube Music seems to be working on a highly requested feature from users who often use the music streaming platform. While it allows users to create a long list of playlists, the platform just doesn’t let them search for their favorite songs from them. This is likely going to change soon, as new evidence suggests a “Find in Playlist” feature is coming.

YouTube Music tests long-awaited Find in Playlist feature

In a recent Reddit post , a couple of users seem to have witnessed a new option in their playlist’s preferences. By tapping into the three-dot menu on their favorite playlist, they got to see a new “Find in playlist” option, right below the “Shuffle Play.”

As the name implies, it is the ability to search for a song in the playlist. It is something YouTube Music users, especially the power users with long playlists, have been waiting for. It is also something that the music streaming platform’s rivals like Spotify have already incorporated for a while now.

Early sightings of the feature, per the Reddit post, are on YouTube Music for iOS, bearing the 8.45.3 version number. And the user who posted on Reddit claims to be from the Indian region. While it is interesting to finally see the feature in the works, it appears Google has begun the A/B testing of the native playlist feature, as it still isn’t available for the Android version.

Most commenters on the Reddit post span across Android, iOS, and also on the web version of the app. It doesn’t seem to have witnessed the feature just yet. It means the rollout or testing is certainly limited and confined to fewer regions. Another thing to note is that the feature also doesn’t work on radio playlists saved in the library.

Up until now, YouTube Music users have already been accustomed to creating playlists for their favorite songs. However, they have had to endlessly scroll through the playlist to find their favorite songs. It can sometimes be tough to pinpoint the song’s location from a long list of songs in a playlist. The “Find in playlist” might turn out to be a savior when Google carries out a wider rollout.

YouTube Music recently began testing a real-time lyrics translation feature

Meanwhile, YouTube Music also appears to have been testing a real-time lyrics translation feature, not very long ago. While the platform already provides song lyrics and the sharing links feature, it could soon add a “Translate” button right next to the “Share” button to provide real-time, system-language-based translations. It could be beneficial to users who often listen to foreign music, and having the ability to understand the lyrics while the song is playing is an added advantage.
