Companies like YouTube tendtend to test new layouts every now and then. This is usually done to see how users react to these changes and if these changes are positive. After all, it would be arrogant for YouTube to assume that its current layout is the best it can possibly be. Unfortunately, it seems a recent test might have gone wrong. According to multiple complaints , many YouTube users are finding certain features missing.
YouTube features missing? You’re not alone
Based on multiple posts on Reddit, it seems that many users on YouTube are noticing certain features missing . We’re not talking about advanced features, but basic and simple features like a video’s published date. One post on Reddit claims that YouTube had inverted the side panel.
Instead of the “You” section appearing at the top and subscriptions at the bottom, subscriptions have now been moved to the top. Another user claims that the subscription tab was no longer available for them but returned at a later date. There was also another post where the Bookmark tab was hidden from its usual spot. Instead, it was replaced by an AI-powered “Ask” button.
YouTube testing gone wrong, or bug?
Right now, it is unclear what is going on. However, from what we can tell, this sounds more like a bug within YouTube rather than the company testing out a new UI layout. This is actually not the first time this has happened.
Just a few weeks ago, users noticed that a bug made all YouTube Shorts interaction buttons disappear . Then, just the other day, there was another bug that caused users to lose access to their Search filters . Users could still search, but they could no longer filter it according to their needs.
These types of issues are, unfortunately, not uncommon. YouTube is such a massive platform that’s been around for years. This means there is a lot of code running in the background, and sometimes even small tweaks here and there can cause bugs and issues. Hopefully YouTube is aware of these issues and gets them fixed ASAP.
